Re: Errors During ETL

Hi Guys,

First of all, thanks a lot for all of you guys' help.  I am very much thankful indeed.  Appreciate it very much.

I have started fresh (deleted the Transformation and everything under that),

since I did what you guys were suggesting up there, but still getting errors :

- In DTP's Update tab, tick “Handle Duplicate Record Key” and after that execute.

- The rule type of 0langu InfoObject cannot be initial.  Change it to CONSTANT and then give value as EN.

Tried requesting the data using DTP, but I got errors again.

However, now when I go into my InfoObject (DS ZBSEG_DATASOURCE Enhancement) ‘s  --> Right click, and goto “Manage”,

I still see (under Requests tab), all the instances of the last Requests with red symbol (telling that they were unsuccessful).  When I highlighted and tried to delete them, I got the error in ABAP (Attached).

Here is my scenario.

I was following the pdf file – which I can send you if you give me your email address.

Since that pdf file was meant to exercise the BW 3.x with InfoSources and transfer rules, I had to twist some of the steps in there in order to satisfy my own requirements.  Let me give you a scenario here as to what it said in pdf file Vs.

what I did to complete my requirements:

(pdf File - The steps which I didn't do ! )

In BW :

After replicating the DataSources, create Characteristic InfoObject (DS ZBSEG_DataSource Enhancement),  using RSD1.

Update Transfer Rules : Goto InfoSource, right click on Source System ID and choose “Change Transfer Rules”.

Over here, I guess all the fields for the InfoObject “DS ZBSEG_DataSource Enhancement” would have been already created, and the only thing I would have done is map the field :

ZZBKTXT” coming out of the DataSource “BSEG_DataSource

to

ZBKTXT1” of my InfoObject “DS ZBSEG_DataSource Enhancement”.

INSTEAD WHAT I DID :

After replicating the DataSources in BW, created Characteristic InfoObject

“DS ZBSEG_DataSource Enhancement), using RSD1, and didn’t put any fields in there (compared to what I have in my DataSource – ZBSEG_DataSource).  So, that is why I guess none of the fields show up in my Characteristic InfoObject (DS ZBSEG_DataSource Enhancement), except :

1 – ZBKTXT1 – DS ZBSEG_DATASOURCE Enhancement

2 – 0LANGU – Language Key

3 – 0TXTSH -  Short Description

4 – 0TXTMD – Medium Description

[Note : Above, I mapped only the first field with my DataSource.]

The DataSource has only one appended InfoObject (ZZBXTXT) which I have already mapped with Target InfoObject (ZBKTXT1 – DS ZBSEG_DATASOURCE Enhancement).

My Generic DataSource is based on the View, which is in turn is based on :

Table : BSEG + One field (ZZBKTXT) from table BKPF.

Now, I am willing to delete this Characteristic InfoObject (DS ZBSEG_DataSource Enhancement), and start over fresh, in order to bring data from other fields of the DataSource to the Characteristic InfoObject (Target).

If I am to do that (delete the Characteristic InfoObject), and create a  new one, I goto RSD1,

Select “Characteristic InfoObject”, and hit “Create”.  Once I do that, another box pops up saying “Create Characteristic”.  I put in the description in there.

Question I have for you is this that, in that box can I use “Reference Characteristic / Template” in order to bring all the fields of my DataSource (ZBSEG_DataSource) into my newly created “Characteristic InfoObject” , instead of typing all the fields of the DataSource, over again in the next screen after the above mentioned pop up box ?

When I did click (the search located on the right) of the above “Reference Characteristic box”, it gave me all the InfoObjects.  I need to bring all the fields from my DataSource, how would I do that ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Take care.

Shahid.
